This is a complicated subject, so we decided to boil it down to a couple of points.

In 2011, the teacher pays 14% of their insurance premiums for family coverage. The taxpayers pay $1,073 PER MONTH (or 86%) for that teacher.

The teacher's deductible is $3000 and the taxpayer pays the first $2100 (70%) of that deductible.

–By the end of the new contract, the taxpayers could be responsible for 86% of $22,440 annual premiums before a “cap” kicks in.
